Around 10:30 this morning I checked on the Great Blue Herons at Vasona....since I was gone to NY for a week I was sure I would come back to see babies....I did not see any today but did pick up two more shells....Lots of standing up over the nests and back down to either incubate or brood? A new nest is almost completed and if successful that would bring the total to six active nests for the season.... I was wondering if anyone saw the two Bald Eagles that were at Vasona last week? I was told today that a pair of BAEA were flying high over the first field as you enter Vasona....I also understand that a couple were monitoring them and said that the male was 4 years old and the female 3 years old? Does anyone know anything about this sighting? Also three or four weeks ago a Golden Eagle was said to have taken a Coot from the lake at Vasona...again if anyone has any info I would appreciate hearing from you... The Eagles would be a predator of the GBHE and I would like to put these sightings in my report to SFBBO. And for the last bit of heard news today... Does anyone know about the Peregrine Falcon that has been roosting and or nesting at Doyle Road and Lawrence Expressway? I have seen this Peregrine on the power pole on Quito Road... Would love to have a Peregrine Falcon added to the breeding atlas... Wishing you all good birding and my best regards, Linda Sullivan _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
