A few Nutmeg Mannikins were observed south of the bridge where they are frequently seen. Near par course # 13, I spotted a female W. Tanager not far from where I'd seen a pair in November and again in February. I didn't see the male this time. She was in her bright plumage. A pair of White breasted Nuthatches are nesting in a box on the fence in the same area, east side of the equestrian trail. The male was observed feeding the female in the nest box. I found one pair of Wood Ducks on the eastern bank of the creek near Pfeiffer Ranch Rd. Lots of color on the female this time. On the way back to my car, I looked for the W. Tanager again, but instead found a male Hooded Oriole, also near par course # 13. His noisy chatter got my attention. A pair nested in this area last year. Much more common here is the Bullocks Oriole. A pair of noisy Red shouldered Hawks a little further north will probably nest in the area again. Also seen were Coopers Hawk, Red tailed Hawk, White throated Swift, Violet Green Swallows, female Common Merganser, Bewicks Wren, Chickadee, Titmouse, Ruby crowned Kinglets, Nuttalls Woodpecker,Cal.Towhee, American Goldfinch, Black Phoebe, and Bushtits. Wrentits were heard only in the blooming sage on the hill. Janna Pauser _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
