In the field just to the east of the same parking lot, one male and one female Western Bluebird were perched. I also found a Violet-green Swallow perched in a tree near the lake's marina. Having never seen one sitting still before, I had a good ten minutes to examine the white face, bright green back, and white rump patches (The bird was kind enough to be sitting with its wings "ajar"). It's exciting to see the cast of characters changing with the season!
