Saturday afternoon we were treated to over an hour of a CLAPPER RAIL in the channel in front of the Nature Center. At the same time there were RUDDY DUCKS, CANVASBACKS, COMMON GOLDENEYE, BUFFLEHEAD, WILLETS, AMERICAN AVOCET and BLACK-NECKED STILTS all feeding in the same channel. Sunday morning things were more quiet although we found a CLAPPER RAIL over by the parking lot across from the duck pond and got some good silhouette/reflection shots of the flocks of birds into the rising Sun. It was neat to see a Clapper right out in front of the Nature Center. My only concern was that it is very easy for it to get pressured by people out there. A couple folks (not with the class) got fairly aggressive (naïve enthusiasm) about walking after the bird to get better looks. When we mentioned the bird was protected they got the idea fairly quickly. I've posted some of the images at: http://www.cardinalphoto.com/private/PA_Birds_0204/index.htm --David Cardinal Cardinal Photo http://www.cardinalphoto.com http://www.nikondigital.org > -----Original Message----- > From: > south-bay-birds-bounces+sbb=[[email protected]] > [mailto:south-bay-birds-bounces+sbb=cardinalphoto.com@plaidwor > ks.com] On Behalf Of [[email protected]] > Sent: Tuesday, March 02, 2004 2:47 PM > To: [[email protected]] > Subject: [SBB] Vasona GBHE Chick Arrives > > Good afternoon SBBers... > > What a great day at Vasona....
