Interestingly, it was in pond A4, about halfway along the Guadalupe Slough edge of the pond. I see that Bob Reiling noted that A4 is where Pat and Roland had their sighting last year. My friend said that it wasn't very approachable; it flew before she could get closer than 25 or 30 meters. Her sighting was in dim early morning light, but she could tell that it was about the size of a Snowy Egret, lacked significant markings, and looked dark, not a medium to light gray that a Great Blue Heron might appear. It flew east northeast. She has been along the same route in the same timeframe on 6/23, 6/25 and 6/27 but hasn't seen it again.
