Folks:

Yesterday, 6/23/2004, I found a Pied-billed Grebe nest in Adobe Creek that 
is unusually close to public footpaths and provides excellent observation 
opportunities without disturbance.  The nest is almost directly across 
Adobe Creek from the  bleachers near the forebay pumphouse, perhaps two 
meters from the cattails on the opposite shore.  It is built of vegetation 
piled near some snags and trash.  I could count at least five eggs and it 
is possible that one young has already hatched.  I had just binoculars, but 
a scope will give all the intimate details when the adults switch or stand 
up to adjust the eggs.
