From the parking lot I looked down on thirty Snowy Egrets and seven Great Egrets. Five Great Blue Herons were stationed here and there, several of which were being harassed by two Caspian Terns. Many Northern Rough Winged, Barn and Tree Swallows were catching bugs. In a nearby oak tree immediately behind the building was a family of Yellow billed Magpies. Three juveniles were harassing an adult for a morsel of food held in its beak. The young were noisily begging, showing a bright orange gape which was comical because of the already oversized bill. This went on for some time and again, I didn't have a camera!! I stopped on McKean Rd at Schillingsburg on the way home to look for the Golden Eagles that nested nearby. A juvenile Golden Eagle was soaring, his distinctive plumage of white tail band and round white wing patches were obvious. He was calling in a high pitched voice that was barely audible. It was nice to see a successful young eagle that I've been watching for some time. Janna Pauser Almaden Valley _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
