I had responses of three and two broods: Three broods: William Cabot reported a high of three successive broods in a nest under the eves of his home in Livermore that has been used for several years. Two broods: Bobbie Stacy has had two successive broods by May 2004 in a nest in a hanging bird feeder outside here dining room window. Next question: American Robins are famous for placing their nests in unusual places. They will use structures as readily as trees and, where there are no trees, they will use the ground. Structures, or course, include any appropriate structure on the outside of a house, but sometimes shelves inside garages, pots, a swinging gate used daily. Does anyone on SBB have a description of a robin nest that they think is unusual? Please send details to me and I will summarize for the group.
