At 2pm today (1/14) they were frolicking in the rain and rushing water. I found them not far from where Mike Rogers reported them this past weekend. From the last parking lot in Alum Rock park, go upstream just past the "Creekside" picnic area (where the Penitencia Creek passes under the trail); there is a wooden fence overlooking the creek bed. This is where I found a very vocal pair of Dippers bobbing in the stream. Whoever coined the phrase "like water off a duck's back" has apparently never seen a dipper in the water! It was as if they had anti-water force fields around their bodies! (My first dippers, can you tell?)
