On the golf course pond was one female Hooded Merganser and two female Common Goldeneye. Among the White-crowned Sparrows along the fence and scattered about the parking lot I found three Golden-crowned Sparrows. I headed over to Byxbee Park to look for owls. At 5:15 PM a Burrowing Owl emerged from it's den opposite the fence line where the Adobe Creek Loop Trail bends toward the Renzel Wetlands. Right at 5:30 I sighted a pale owl flying with deliberate wingbeats along Adobe Creek then out over the marsh. I couldn't pick out any field marks for SEOW in the poor light, and as the underwings were very pale this was likely a Barn Owl .
