All,

A lunch time trip to Shoreline Lake today 1/5/04 turned up some ducks
of interest.  The adult male BARROW'S x COMMON GOLDENEYE hybrid was in
the southeast corner of the lake and the immature female BARROW'S
GOLDENEYE was near the northwest corner.  This latter bird has a
nearly complete yellow bill now (except for the black nail) but that
yellow is still pretty dull, with some duskiness near the base.  Also
present were 21+ SURF SCOTERS and 1 female-plumaged RED-BREASTED
MERGANSER.
