We watched a female Northern Harrier interspersed with watching the view of the Sierra Nevada that is readily visible from this location (it's also visible from Black Mountain/Montebello Ridge, Borel Hill on Russian Ridge OSP & other locations). I wanted to include mention of the Sierra views since it's become apparent that many folks don't know about it. Look across the low saddle of the inner coast range that is bordered on the right (effectively south) by Mission Peak in Fremont - you'll see a very broad view of the snow-covered peaks. We used both our binoculars and my birding scope to see the mountains, although I could also see them without either because of the snow. We were there yesterday morning as well and it was more clear - Bill is near-sighted and could see them yesterday without help, but today needed binos and/or scope. Not that birding needed any other elements to make it even more fun, but there it is anyway! :-) Happy New Year all, Georgia p.s. could Les or someone please forward this to the South Bay list? I can't post there because I'm not subscribed...thanks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Georgia Stigall ph: 650-941-1068 2400 ft. elevation Southern San Mateo County [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Yahoo!
