When I thought I couldn't get any more depressed by this rainy weather.... This morning as I watched my creek rise to six inches before flooding I was concerned on how the GBHEs were doing at Vasona. I took a quick run over there and as soon I drove up I saw that Nest 2 was gone....All that is left is a male Heron standing on roughly 25 twigs lower in the tree....the rest of the huge nest has been blown into pieces....I checked the backside of the Colony and all that is on the ground are tons of twigs/branches. I am just heartbroken...... The Nest 1 was incubating as of yesterday...today they have left the nest....Nest 6 has one heron, Nest 4 has one heron and so does Nest 7..... One Common Merganser was swimming in Los Gatos Creek.... Wishing you all sunshine and good birding.... My best regards, Linda Sullivan _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
