The bird was first found in the small bushy tree, black berries on it, located below the Magnolia tree and it later flew to the bare trees on the other side of the garden [where seemed to be eating leaf buds]. I was somewhat amazed that the bird was still there as several groups [perhaps a dozen] of loud, small children were touring the immediate area while another group of teenagers trimmed the bushes along the fence [immediately around and under the bushy tree] and a small building was being built less than twenty feet away [sawing, hammering, etc.]. Earlier Frank and I saw a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW [this one didn't look that dull to me] and a VARIED THRUSH. I should note that yesterday [2/18] Frank and I worked the area between Page Mill Road, Arastradero Road, El Monte and I-280 [and fields in between] in hopes of finding the reported Rough-legged Hawk. Lots of RED-TAILED HAWKS and a couple GOLDEN EAGLES but no Rough-legged Hawks. Take care, Bob Reiling _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
