Alas no joy, the best thing at Los Gatos Creek park was the resident OSPREY, Calero Reservoir looked fairly empty but an adult BALD EAGLE was perched on the western edge. Almaden Lake Park had a nice selection of gulls but no Glaucous Gull (the only other thing of interest was a small group of COMMON MERGANSER which included a nice adult male). Earlier the water district pond was receiving special attention from three people with dogs who were throwing tennis balls into the pond for the dogs to retrieve, this did a nice job of scaring the birds way. Finally Sunnyvale Water Treatment Facility, including the Lockheed-Martin marsh, was quite low on ducks (none of special interest), a PEREGRINE FALCON perched on a pole northeast of the marsh while WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS flew high over the marsh and TREE SWALLOWS flew low over the ponds. As I left four or five hunters, complete with guns, bicycles, a small canoe and at least one dead Canada Goose were being questioned by the Ranger in the parking lot. All seemed amicable so I assume that they were operating within the law. Take care, Bob Reiling _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
