Today Peter Doyle and I tried for the Bald Eagle at Calero Reservoir with no luck. We did see a GOLDEN EAGLE hunting on the sw side of the lake. We also saw 3 WHITE-TAILED KITES flying. Our next stop was Chesbro Reservoir where we hoped to find some wood ducks. No luck again. The reservoir is very low. A lot lower than at this time last year. We did see 50+ COMMON MERGANSERS as well as a CALIFORNIA THRASHER. Next we decided to try our luck at Santa Theresa and Richardson. Passing by Calero on our way to Bailey Ave. we saw another Golden Eagle or perhaps the same one. Traveling down Bailey at IBM we saw a No. HARRIER harassing a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK that was sitting on a fence post. Once at Richardson we got some good views of 2 LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES, several AM. KESTRELS, and the FERRUGINOUS HAWK. It was on the ground on the notheast side of the intersection. We had great views. While we were watching a No. Harrier landed and we got some nice looks at him as well. Heading home we saw another Ferruginous Hawk on a dead tree on the east side of 101 just before the on ramp to Hwy 85. As a bonus I saw 4 Turkeys on Silver Creek Valley Rd when I stopped of at the grocery store on my way home. They were dodging the evening commuters. Those birds better be careful this time of year. Fresh turkey is mighty popular. MerryChristmas! Summer Brasuel _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
