Picking up on Bob Reiling's invitation I'm happy (I think) to tell all 
that I failed to find either bird today.

I spent a little over an hour mid-day looking for the sparrow, but even 
the arrival of the magical Mr. Latourrette failed to coax the bird into 
view.  A birder who briefly stopped by told me she and another woman 
had spent about an hour there earlier this morning, also without 
finding the bird.

Figuring it would be better to spend time looking for two departed 
birds than one, I drove to Calero Reservoir, where I had no more 
success than Mike Mammoser did yesterday -- no loon, in other words.
