I was frustrated that I hadn't seen any for almost two years and wondered how long it would be before I would see another. So at 11:15am (12/4) we were headed north from San Martin about two miles south of the Hwy 85 exit and I saw an egret, much too small to be the Great Egret, yellow beak, black legs, and doing the "chest out, head back, stretch walk" on grazing land on the east side of the freeway. I couldn't find any other posts about Cattle Egret sightings locally this season so I decided to get this to you right away. This may be an indication to other birders to look in some of likely places to see more Cattle Egrets, if there haven't been any previous sightings. I will be gone the rest of the day, but please pass this message along if you feel it will be of immediate interest to others.
