I went to Palo Alto in search of Glaucous Gull this lunchtime, and found a 
small flock of birders but no gull. Lots of the usual suspects, but nothing 
interesting so I went on to Shoreline for a quick look and found the female 
BARROWS GOLDENEYE on the South West corener of the lake near the "No 
Trespassing" sign by the golf course. She obliging swam to within 20 feet of 
me for some great looks, and comparisons to female and male COMMON 
GOLDENEYES in the same area (along with a very fluffy EARED GREBE).
