Tim Steurer had just arrived. We walked down to the RR bridge and very quickly found the Lousianna Waterthrush. We were then joined by another group of birders who had been there earlier and seen the bird flying up and down below the RR bridges. Tim and I saw the bird along the banks and tree limbs on one side of the bridges, and later several of us saw it on the other side out in the open on a gravel bar. As the group of us waited, it called/chipped several times and actually sang once (hidden from view.) Todd Easterla (sp) later waded the creek and got some good photos of the bird. It responded to his pishing and his Eastern Screech Owl immitations. He entered the creek at the end of the wooden fence past (left) of the RR bridges; the bird then flew off downstream away from the bridges-- about 8:30am. As I left, many other birders were in search of the bird. And a small group left in search of the Stint north of Bodega. I also tried to see the Waterthrush yesterday evening and arrived just as it disappeared. I was told that Keith Hansen had been there and gotten a good video. The bird was seen around 6pm. Also in the park people noted WB Nuthatch, Downy WP, Nuttalls WP, Acorn Woodpeckers, Western Tanager, OC Warbler calling, juncos and chickadees. Good birding!
