I got 3-4 views of the LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH in flight only, with the bird giving a single "chink" call during one of those flights. I returned at about 6:00pm for better looks. People present at this time included Keith Hansen, Richard Jeffers, Steve Miller, Janna Pauser, Ann Verdi, Bob reiling, Les and Cindy Lieurance, Kris Olsen, Rob and Rita Colwell, and Linda Terrill. This time I got a nice look at the bird as it foraged along the mud bank opposite us. This bird requires patience. This morning, 11 Aug 04, I took a walk along the Coyote Creek Trail south of Metcalf in San Jose. A singing YELLOW WARBLER seemed late in the season and a group of CANADA GEESE flying overhead had a CACKLING GOOSE in with them (probably the same bird I had back in June at nearby Coyote Creek Golf Club).
