I haven't been home a lot during the days to look for them, but I have re-activated my bird feeder to make them easier to detect. The birds are only now discovering that there is still food here. On 4/27 there was a pair of Golden-crowned Sparrows sitting on our tractor in the evening and this morning, 4/30 at 8 a.m., there was a single Golden-crowned Sparrow eating at the bird feeder. These birds are located in San Martin against the Harvey Bear Ranch (now p/o Coyote Lake Park) at the intersection of Church Avenue and De Paul Circle. The exact time they are visible is random, but they can be viewed from your car by looping around De Paul Circle. Many thanks to all the experienced migration observers that contacted me about the White and Golden-crowned Sparrow migration habits. I have not seen any White-crowned Sparrows since I last posted, but when they reappear, I'll determine their race and post.
