Folks:

This morning, 4/14/04, an adult GREEN HERON was perched in the weeping 
willows on the north side of Shoreline Lake, where birds nested in 2001 and 
possibly 2002.  At least eight SURF SCOTERS remain on the lake.  In the 
afternoon, I counted 20 BLACK SKIMMERS on the island in the southeast 
corner of Salt Pond A1.  A few Forster's Terns and Am. Avocets appear to be 
incubating, but most of the terns were involved in courtship.  There is 
less space for nesting this year as the water level is higher.  A TREE 
SWALLOW was perched on a bird house at the south end of Salt Pond A1--it is 
possible they nested here last summer.  They are not normally found nesting 
along the Bay.
