In Santa Clara County we have approximately 11 reports of AMGP, of which, 10 are assigned an age. The majority of these are juveniles. There are two adult records: 9/21/33 1 ad f; collected in Alviso, seen for previous three weeks [McLean, D. B. 1936. Some notable records of birds from California. Condor 38:1617] 7/27/97 1 ad, basic; Sunnyvale WPCP, 'not a trace of black or gold' (Peter Metropulos) The first of these is a specimen and is a September record. I don't know where the specimen is located. The second record is a late July adult, which makes some sense for a long-distance migrant. I have approximately 15 records of Pacific Golden-Plover, of which, 10 are aged. There are four records of adults. Two of these are in late July and two in September. 7/27/97 1 alt; Crittenden Marsh (Dick Norton {7/27}, Mike Rogers {7/30}, Peter Metropulos (8/3), Nick Lethaby? -8/4/97 {8/4?}) 7/25/98 2 ad; Palo Alto Flood Control Basin, 1 largely in alt. plumage, the other in mid-molt (Al Eisner {7/25, -8/4/98 7/31}, Mike Mammoser {7/26, 8/1[1]}, Tom Grey {7/26[1]}, Mike Rogers {7/27, 7/28[1]}, Bob Reiling {7/28[1]}, Frank Vanslager {7/28[1]}, Marilyn Hamiter fide BirdBox {8/4[1]}) 9/1/02 1 ad; New Chicago Marsh, Alviso, (Dennis & Patricia Braddy {9/1}, Roland Kenner {9/2, 9/13}, Pat Kenny -9/15/02 {9/2, 9/13}, Mike Mammoser {9/2, 9/4, 9/7}, Mike Rogers {9/2, 9/14}, Bob Reiling {9/2-3}, Frank Vanslager {9/2-3}, Dave Quady {9/4}, Jennifer Rycenga {9/5}, Kris Olson {9/7}, Linda Sullivan {9/8}, Jay Withgott {9/10}, Cagan Sekercioglu {9/10}, Peter LaTourrette {9/11}, Miguel Demeulemeester {9/11}, Bill Bousman (9/15}); partial alt. plumage, molting 9/10/02 1 basic ad; New Chicago Marsh (Jay Withgott {9/10}, Cagan Sekercioglu {9/10}, Peter LaTourrette {9/11}, -9/22/02 Miguel Demeulemeester {9/11}, Bill Bousman (9/15}, Jim Danzenbaker {9/21}, Bob Reiling {9/21}, Mike Mammoser {9/22}) This is a very small sample size.
