There was a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER along with a CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE and a SCRUB JAY all in the same Eucalyptus tree behind the picnic area on the far northwest end of the park (near the ball field parking lot). On our walk back I saw the first SAY'S PHOEBE I've seen here this fall. It was NOT being welcomed by the resident BLACK PHOEBE who was harassing it. A small flock of SAVANNAH SPARROWS are in the area of the observation platform and the Wave Walk. In the bushes at the corner of the fenced field opposite the large meadow I saw my first WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW of the season. I think I also saw a GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW but didn't get a good enough look at that one to be sure. Other birds of interest in the park this morning were a RED-TAILED HAWK, a WHITE-TAILED KITE, a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE and an AMERICAN kESTREL. All of these birds were seen along the main trail during our walk. Rosalie Strait _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
