Just some additional comments about the Golden-plover I saw in in Alviso. I didn't have a scope so most of the finer details mentioned by Bill in his 9/9 posting were not noticeable, given that the bird was probably more than 200 feet away. However, some features he mentioned were seen: black feathers remaining on the belly, pale supercilium (tan or white), and less golden-ness. To confirm it as a Golden-plover, it had a noticeably smaller bill than the nearby BB Plover, and it obligingly raised its wings to reveal pale axillaries. Good birdie!
