Birding was slow [unless you're interested in HOUSE FINCHES and HOUSE SPARROWS] with the best bird being a buffy wing-barred WILLOW FLYCATCHER. Other species included YELLOW WARBLER, WILSON'S WARBLER, DOWNY WOODPECKER, AMERICAN GOLDFINCH [adults feeding at least one begging juvenile], GREEN HERON, BELTED KINGFISHER [two interacting], and two VIRGINIA RAIL [west edge of creek across from Crittenden Marsh]. Crittenden Marsh itself had a few "peeps," several LESSER and GREATER YELLOWLEGS and a couple SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS [no Baird's Sandpipers :-(]. I should also note that yesterday [9/3] Frank saw an AMERICAN BITTERN in the creek just downstream of L'Avenida.
