For a couple hours on Sunday morning I tried for the Northern Waterthrush in 
the marsh north of Charleston and east of Shoreline in Mt View.  No 
interesting calls and the only "notables" were WILSON'S SNIPE, HERMIT THRUSH and a 
birding plumaged Al Eisner.  I then went to the Sunnyvale Water Treatment Facility 
and scanned the larger ['West Pond"] from the hill located west of the parking 
lot for the Tufted Duck seen on Saturday's SCVAS field trip.  I managed to 
find only a couple suspects which turned out to be either RING-NECKED DUCKS or 
Scaup.  "Notables" included my first AMERICAN PIPIT of the fall [on the 
hillside] and a pair [male and female] of BLUE-WINGED TEAL.  Had my tunnel vision on 
so was not really looking for much else.
