Waterthrush or Wilson's Snipe. I had excellent views of a perched adult accipiter which I concluded to be a COOPER'S HAWK based on the relatively large bill and long rounded tail with a broad white tip (I also had close views of the bird in flight); RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET; six WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW and one GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW; NUTTAL'S WOODPECKER; BUSHTIT; CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE and an unexpected OAK TITMOUSE foraging among the willows and bathing in the water. An earlier lunchtime jaunt to the EEC failed to find the STILT SANDPIPER or WILSON'S SNIPE. I met Dean Maley on the tracks, who had the STSA about 15 minutes before my arrival but the bird had flushed farther out into the marsh and could not be relocated by the time I left.
