The water is considerably higher than last fall or winter when there were sizeable flocks of pipits there. I couldn't find any today. A single OSPREY flew over from north to south. A ROCK WREN was east of the small inlet creek beside the levee on the south end, just as it was last winter. I didn't sort through all of the blackbirds around the stables, but there were at least 25 male TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS. My count of the WILD TURKEYS this morning reached 70, including some vigorous squabbles between the males. The large flock of Canada Geese flew in from the Coyote Valley just as I was leaving the stable area. I thought I could see some smaller birds, but when I scanned the flock (325 birds) from the boat launch, I couldn't find anything unusual. Almaden Lake had its usual birds.
