The version that is at the Audubon shop in Cupertino is the 1996 version. The current 2002 version (slightly delayed to include last winter's Rusty Blackbird) is now available as a pdf file that can be read with Adobe Acrobat. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat you can download a free copy from the Adobe website. The current 2002 version is on the Santa Clara Valley Audubon website courtesy of Pete LaTourrette I apologize that this checklist is quite large, about 1.4MB, and will probably take some time to download. If you print it out, it requires 13 pages of 8.5" by 11" paper. I hope that you find the graphical richness of the checklist worth the download time. Please note the copyright notice on the first page. Anyone can copy this checklist for noncommercial purposes, but upon its publication by the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society the copyright reverts to them. The next version of the checklist will probably be updated in January. I make minor changes every year. Sometimes I add a new dot for a new record, or extend the lines showing the period of migration, or even change the width of a bar to indicate a bird is more or less common. As an example, I've had quite a bit of feedback from folks that Nuttall's Woodpecker should probably be listed as common in the county, not fairly common, and I expect to make this change, as this species has expanded its range and has become increasingly more common. I am inclined to also boost Yellow Warbler in September to common, although this is true only if you focus on riparian areas. Anyone's and everyone's comments are always welcome, but please remember that this is a county checklist and in a very imperfect way is supposed to reflect the status of each species within the entire county, not just your local neighborhood.
