At the end of Geng Rd. I found 3 Golden-crowned Sparrows along the fence opposite the ballfields. A male Ring-necked Pheasant was foraging out in the open on the west bank of San Francisquito Creek just before the footbridge. A second male appeared on the dike road just beyond the footbridge. Heading over to Byxbee Park, I had another male pheasant on the west side of Matadero Creek. While scanning the slough for owls, 2 more male pheasants flew over the creek and settled in the marsh, bringing the total pheasants seen to 5 individual birds. Nothing special, but a nice year bird(s) pickup. I had nice looks at a juvenile White-tailed Kite hunting the slough but saw no owls this time, giving up when the light faded at 1900.
