We also had a nice RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET. Work is in progress on building a playground type area in the northeast corner of the park, this should have a minimal effect on birding provided that they don't try to "improve" the rest of the park. We then went to Almaden Lake where the "notables" included a juvenile/female COMMON MERGANSER, a SPOTTED SANDPIPER, and the "as yet to be counted" NUTMEG MANNIKINS. CALIFORNIA and RING-BILLED were the only Gulls seen. A fairly good sized flock of [8-10] HOUSE SPARROWS were on the south side of the lake.
