The sand bar just beyond the grandstands in the middle of the slough that is often filled with Pelicans was today filled with most of the ducks and teal listed below. I have not seen a dozen BLUE-WINGED TEAL together before. There were many more AMERICAN WIGEON and even more NOTHERN SHOVELOR. I saw only two GREEN-WINGED TEAL, but several pairs of CINNAMON TEAL. Of course, the herons and raptors either walked through or flew over. The list below also includes the birds seen on the mud flats to the south of the slough. Pied-Billed Grebe Double-Crested Cormorant Canada Goose Mallard Gadwall Northern Pintail American Wigeon Northern Shovelor Blue-Winged Teal Cinnamon Teal Green-Winged Teal Common Moorhen American Coot American White Pelican Ring-Billed Gull Forster's Tern Great Blue Heron Great Egret Snowy Egret Black Crowned Night Heron Semipalmated Plover Killdeer Black-Necked Stilt American Avocet Greater Yellowlegs Long-Billed Curlew Marbled Godwit Western Sandpiper Least Sandpiper Long-Billed Dowitcher Turkey Vulture Nothern Harrier White-tailed Kite Red-tailed Hawk Black Phoebe -- Gordon Barrett [[email protected]] _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
