The fall migration of more or less typical species continues. I had 16 "WESTERN" FLYCATCHERS (a mix of adults and fresh-plumaged immatures including one heard later at the waterbird pond), a WARBLING VIREO, five ORANGE-CROWNED WARBERS, and nine YELLOW WARBLERS. Wintering warblers included an imm. TOWNSEND'S and 62 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. The latter insured that my peripheral vision nerve ends were firing continuously. I heard my first RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET of the season. A PEREGRINE FALCON was working the corridor. Twenty-eight VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were not so late for October, but two BARN SWALLOWS were getting that way. The waterbird pond held the usual species.
