They said a couple of SWAMP SPARROWS were being seen at the roughly the spot Bill described below. The giveaway to the spot was a lot of other bird activity. Sure enough I did see them, with one bird providing prolonged views as it preened. Also seen a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW that was working the margins of the path. I don't believe this has been reported before. Along with LINCOLN's, it made for a total of 7 sparrow species at one spot ! Also present an AMERICAN PIPT, MARSH WREN, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT. The tide looked pretty high so I decided to try the boardwalk north of the interperation center. Near the sign for "Rail Alley", there were two CLAPPER RAILs at near-focus distance. This was at the high tide. Today, 11/24/2003, I refound both sparrows in the same spot at today's high tide and Mike Rogers and Kris Olson also saw both of them shortly afterwards.
