At the end of Marsh Road I found an immature FERRUGINOUS HAWK, probably the same bird seen here about 10 days ago by Matthew O'Brien. Someone has built a huge gate at the entrance to Marsh Road. I assume it is to be used in the future to keep out the birder riff-raff that plague this area. I returned via the Sierra Road summit. The Open Space Authority lands are still closed, but they've introduced some handsome horned cattle to some of these areas, so maybe the grazing will help the Horned Larks and their friends.
