I'm very happy to have found such a rich resource for local birding! I (finally!) got out to see the WHITE-WINGED SCOTER at Shoreline Lake this afternoon around 3pm. She was hanging out by herself quite a way from the Surf Scoters, but all were still in the NW section of the lake. The rain was just starting to come down when I arrived and was really picking up by 4pm when I left. I've only recently taken up birding (last winter) and was thrilled to see my first TOWNSEND'S WARBLER during a short walk through Overfelt Gardens in East San Jose yesterday! Although he didn't sing for me, he was busy munching his way around a low pine branch, and showed off his very vivid coloring in the late afternoon sun. I never expected to see this bird in the middle of the city! --Kim Kim Blythe Santa Clara _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
