Went out to see the Golden Eagle's nest off McKean Road. There is still on very large chick in the nest. It was flapping its wings and walking around...it looked lonely up there! >From there I went out to Vasona to check on the Great Blue Herons Rookery since they are now leaving the nests and flying back to them for security. I found two fledgling GBHEs in the creek. The best surprise was a nesting Killdeer....The park has it roped off and the Killdeer has five eggs...very cool Over at Steven's Creek Park the Stellar's Jay is still on the nest as well as two Western Wood Peewees. Further down Steven's Canyon Road is a wonderful Red-shouldered Hawks nest with 3 good size nestlings. The parent came in and fed the three chicks with the largest chick stealing the food right out of the mouth of its sibling..... Further down by the restrooms I watched a Robin feed its four chicks and an Anna's is nesting high in the huge Oak tree. Wishing you all good birding and my best regards, Linda Sullivan _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
