All,
I just witnessed a pair of American Avocets harassing a Spotted Sandpiper in
the restored marsh area at the Baylands.  The Avocets were screaming and
actually hitting the sandpiper on the back when (what I suspected) three
brand new Avocet chicks came walking out of the vegetation.  After the
Avocet family moved through the area, the sandpiper came back to feed.  It
has a very striking plumage.
