Best bird was adult PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER feeding two young outside the nest, at Villa Maria. At first I was nonplussed by two solid- gray-plumaged empid sized-and-shaped birds, but then the parent showed up with bug in bill and solved the mystery. Also seen or heard: RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, 2 BAND-TAILED PIGEONS, 3 ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHERS, 5+ WESTERN WOOD-PEWEES, 2 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS, 2 BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, all 3 vireos (one CASSIN'S heard only), 2 BULLOCK'S ORIOLES, 2 PURPLE FINCHES. No warblers.
