My highest count on the fence was of 45 birds, with more still in the field. I'm not completely familiar with the plumages, but it appeared to me that about half were adult females, half were either juvenile or immature, and I counted two adult males. If these were juvenile plumages, then this group has already nested somewhere, which seems rather early. Alvaro might be able to educate us if he is around. The San Jose-Santa Clara WPCP had about 12 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, most in first winter plumage and an adult MEW GULL (a bit late). A walk along Coyote Creek below Hwy 237 was not very productive for migrants and the birding became more difficult as the winds increased. The only migrants were a single CASSIN'S VIREO, a female/imm BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, and a female/imm TOWNSEND'S WARBLER. They have mowed some of the overflow channel today.
