Birding early this morning (before sunrise) produced a singing YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT below the dam at Stevens Creek Park, a calling COMMON POORWILL and several WESTERN SCREECH-OWLs. The dawn chorus consisted of OLIVE-SIDED, ASH-THROATED, and PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERs, CASSIN'S and WARBLING VIREOs, SPOTTED and CALIFORNIA TOWHEEs, BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, WESTERN TANAGER, BULLOCK'S ORIOLE, ORANGE-CROWNED and WILSON'S WARBLER, BROWN CREEPER, and so on. Up on Skyline across from Castle Rock Park (Santa Clara County), there were quite a few singing HERMIT WARBLERs, foraging CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEEs and two calling RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHs. Try to get out there and go birding today.......
