We didn't expect much but knew we wouldn't see it if we didn't try. We birded as far north as we could on the dike west of the creek and then worked the first dike to the west on our way back. Best birds were a couple YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS (one gave us fairly good looks) and a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD on the edge of some reeds near the water treatment facility. Bumped into Ann Verdi (left with us) and Judy (last name? who arrived just as we were leaving). Also ran into a couple young ladies doing a point count, for the water district?, who were looking for Bell's Least Vireo. Apparently there is a 1997 nesting record? Both ladies were familiar with the bird and it's song from their southern CA birding experiences.
