Just from memory, I've observed nests in the following plants in the central CA region: coyote brush, ceanothus spp., manzanita spp, arroyo willow, red willow, red alder, Fremont cottonwood, box elder, coast live oak, interior live oak, knobcone pine, coast redwood, ericameria sp., chamise, eucalyptus spp., acacia sp., paper birch, and a handful of other exotics.
