Our target bird was Pygmy Nuthatch, unfortunately although we heard a couple short, right sounding calls (on Morrill Rd.) we could not say for certain that they were Pygmy Nuthatches (it was very windy). Species on Morrill Rd. included WILSON'S WARBLER, TOWNSEND'S WARBLER, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, HOUSE WREN, PURPLE FINCH, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, HUTTON'S VIREO, DOWNY WOODPECKER, HAIRY WOODPECKER, ACORN WOODPECKER, BAND-TAILED PIGEON, CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE, DARK-EYED JUNCO and a perched RED-TAILED HAWK (to say nothing of Jays, Towhees and "lesser" Finches). On and at the bottom of Wrights Station Rd. we added, PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER, WARBLING VIREO, PINE SISKINS, BELTED KINGFISHER, RED-SHOULDERED HAWK (it and a TURKEY VULTURE seemed to be having a hard time dealing with the wind), AMERICAN ROBIN, and BLACK PHOEBE (and a couple more Wilson's Warblers [males] and Hutton's Vireos). Take care, Bob Reiling,1:19 PM, 3/28/03 _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
