Several Allen's Hummingbirds were at the flowering sage which covered the Styles Ranch trail hillside. We came across two pairs of Rufous crowned Sparrows which gave us great looks this time. We saw three pairs of W. Bluebirds, one pair at a nest box. A pair of Rock Wrens were on the old rock wall another a little further up the hill on a rock. A flock of at least 20 Meadowlarks flew across our path and landed on a nearby hill. Other birds were a No. Harrier, pair of Red tailed Hawks, White tailed Kite, several Kestrels and a Says Phoebe. Cliff Swallows and Violet Green Swallows were seen at several locations. We drove down McKeen Rd. and spotted a Golden Eagle at the nest and another on a nearby power pole. The wildflowers were spectacular, Goldfields, Tidy Tips, Owls Clover, Shooting Stars, Blue eyed Grass, and California Poppies dotted the hillsides, and were concentrated along the trails.
