A MOORHEN was in the same area. At the Oka Ponds in San Jose we found 3 pairs of RING-NECKED DUCKS at the location reported by Linda Sullivan yesterday. This pond is not visible from the main trail along Los Gatos Creek but between the path on the other side and Dell Avenue. Also at the Oka Ponds were a single female HOODED MERGANSER in Los Gatos Creek. (Last week we found both male and HOODED MERGANSER there.) SPOTTED SANDPIPERS were in two locations, along Los Gatos Creek and near Oka Lane. A GREEN HERON was at the second pond from the main parking area. Swallows at the Oka Ponds were numerous and seemingly exclusively ROUGH- WINGED ones. A HERRING GULL with crossed mandibles was on the pond nearest Oka Lane.
