At Ed Levin, we found one LONG-EARED OWL and 3 BARN OWLs in the Elm Picnic area (no Great-horned Owls). Above Sandy Wool Lake we heard at least 2 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWs uphill from the trail between the gate and the sycamores. Fiddleneck are in bloom, but the only GOLDFINCHes seen were LESSER. Over at Sunol-Ohlone (Alameda County), the YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER (YBSA) continues in the oaks to the right of the Wilderness Room(?), the cabin with the deck out back. This is the cabin that's closest to the bridge. You can see fresh sapsucker drillings in one of the low limbs at roof height. The YBSA foraged near the top of the oak (black?) that's just leafing out. Several ACORN WOODPECKERs chased the sapsucker off, occasionally.
