Five GREAT HORNED OWLS called from 0455 to 0615 hrs. I had no response from any of the little owls to various calls. Two COMMON POORWILLS called from 0540 to 0555 hr up along the Indian Creek Trail. First light was about 0520 hr. At dawn, I had one PILEATED WOODPECKER calling from the west side of the canyon, below the Indian Creek and Canyon Trail junction. I visited the Spring Valley area in Ed Levin CP and looked for hummingbirds feeding on red-flowering eucalypts. I had two male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS, a male ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRD doing his shallow courtship flight, one female Selasphorus, and four ANNA'S. Other nectar eaters were a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER and a LESSER GOLDFINCH. Bill _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
